well now that i think about it i have a lot of wild violets, and a small amount of viola, heartsease, as well as some darker violas that are most dark purple - viola tricolor.

Have you ever considered a Yellowhorn tree? Nuts are good to eat. Trees are not to large. I have 2 and lots of seeds on them.
Just a thought.

let me think about it. i am trying to find out if it will even grow here, the reading i just googled says zone 4 - 7 and needs some chill in winter...i am in zone 8 and it does get cold here for a bit, but this is after all california and we dont get that much cold.

otherwise i am curious and interested, but let me research it a bit.
