| I have seeds of Petunia exserta and Trachelium caeruleum 'Hamer Pandora'. I can send one or both, and I'm going to send in a regular envelope, no padding or bubble wrap. These are both seeds that are tiny enough that I believe they shouldn't get crushed by the USPS rollers. If you are convinced otherwise, please let me know.
I'll send for postage, which is not much at 45 cents. If you post something on the Seed or Plant exchange as free for postage I'll waive the shipping charge. Pictures of the plants: Petunia exserta. The only hummingbird-polinated Petunia, it's almost extinct in the wild. It's also a perennial in areas with little/no frost. Trachelium caeruleum. A short-lived perennial, often grown as an annual. Presumably it would have to be started really early inside in cold climates to reach blooming size. Hardy to zone 7 (?) I don't know whether or not this can take summer heat and humidity. My plant, grown in part sun. In more sun the leaves are more purple: The seeds, to show their minute size, and how much went into each packet. Petunia exserta seeds: Trachelium caeruleum 'Hamer Pandora' seeds: Trachelium caeruleum seeds are about 100,000/gram. For comparison, Begonia seeds are 20,000-80,000/gram. I think Petunia seeds are about 10,000/gram. The Trachelium seeds are like dust, and appear to be coming up in nearby pots. Here are some that sprouted in a 4 inch pot (Kalanchoe synsepala f. dissecta). Email me if you are interested in one or both. |
