HAVE: Downsizing my seeds

********* UPDATE11/06/2013 ************************

Seed downsizing is now closed.

Thanks.

************************************************************

After gardening just a couple of years I am now realizing how to use my space and what works well for me. I hate for my extra seeds to go to waste so I would like to send them along to other folks, you would just need to provide a SASE.

This is what I have to send out:

I have listed all of my seeds in Alphabetical Order, starting with the type of seed then the variety. If you see (H), it means it is an Heirloom. If there is a year to follow that is the year the seed was collected.

Many of the seeds are from my garden, but some have been purchased or swapped from other farmers or big box stores. Information I have listed is correct to my knowledge.

PLEASE feel free to ask any questions.

I store all of my seeds in paper envelopes in a box and out of direct sunlight.

Gosh Homesteader, that is very kind of you. You have several types that I could/would use in my garden
You sure I can't send you something in exchange? ( besides the SASE?)
Most things I'd be happy with just a very small amount.
I'd like chives, both kinds
lettuce, jericho
either or both onions
pumpkin
sweet marjoram
black cherry tomatoe
I can offer you a share of a good variety of heirloom tomatoes if you are interested
Thanks for your offer
Bethb

RE: HAVE: Downsizing my seeds

I want to apologize to anyone who did not get all of the seeds they wanted. This became a popular thread and I had a lot of requests for seeds. I was trying to be fair by filling the envelopes when I received them, but not everyone got everything on their wish list and I know some gardeners were disappointed by this.

There was no good way for me to do this. I used my best judgement and used a system that I thought was fair. I did not set aside seeds for anyone and filled envies as they were received. Some folks have good intentions of sending envelopes out, but life may keep them busy and they forget to follow through. So again, I used a system that I thought was fair.

If I ever decide to do this again in the future I will be sure and add a disclosure that states seeds will not be saved, and requests will be filled in order the envelopes are received

Thank you to those with the follow up emails with kind words and that let me know you received your seeds.

Many thanks. You have done a great job. Somehow, even giving things away is not always as easy as it seems it should be.

Just chiming back in, here, to throw another BIG OL' THANKS your direction for being so very generous! Personally, I think you've handled this absolutely perfectly, completely in keeping with common GW practice, insofar as I've observed anyway. Another thing to consider for the future, though, perhaps, would be to offer a finite X-amount of seed packs for "Newbies", for SASBE, your choice of seeds. When your limit is reached, post on your thread that the offer is officially closed. Also a common practice, and you'll be helping a lot of folks just getting started on GW but who don't have a lot to trade, initially, thus allowing them to grow "things" they can harvest seeds from for future trade potential. Just a thought. :)
