Start by reading the FAQ ( frequently Asked questions), set up your trade list and watch for offers of seeds for postage.
I'm a compulsive seed harvester. I collect seeds ( from plants that I can identify and that I would like to grow) from plants in all sorts of places.Neighbors are usually happy to share seeds, some stores have planters with seeds just hanging around waiting to fall. Remove the pods gently so you do no harm. Think of it as a rescue ;)

beth_b - I'm the same way - compulsive! I snag seeds anywhere I can unless they are on a plant that is for sale or in a store that sells plants/seeds. (I figure that's getting slightly unethical!)
