| Right now, I'm only taking trades for something interesting. If there are seeds left over, I'll repost. I would like some fresh Gunnera manicata seed, some Castor Beans, and Red huckleberry/red bilberry (Vaccinium parvifolium Smith). But I will consider other offers.
Dead Man’s Fingers, Decaisnea fargesii Nice enough looking deciduous shrub with insignificant white flowers. The eye-catching parts are the clusters of blue (4.5-5.5”) pods that look like bloated fingers. I don’t know about other places, but here in the PNW, they’re just perfect for Halloween, right next to the Jello eyeballs and beating heart on a plate. * Hardy to Zone 5, not frost tender. Cold-hardy if fully dormant, but late spring frosts can damage flowers and young growth, but usually recovers well. * Deciduous shrub that grows approx 13x13 ft, can be trained to be a small tree. Self-fertile. * Grows in most soils, but prefers rich, moist loamy soils, dislikes drought. Does best in partial shade (woodland), but takes full sun in cooler climates. * Seed pods ripen Sept-Oct. * Germination: winter sowing is preferred, outdoors, for spring germination; or sow in a greenhouse in Feb. and expect germination in 30-90 days. Grow under protection their first winter, then plant out in late spring. (It is rumored that the seeds do best when fairly fresh, and not dried out.) |

| Hi Belgianpup: I'd be interestedin your deadman's finger seeds if you have any left. I have seeds for a castor bean that is a beautiful burgundy color and is at least 14' tall, and about 8' wide: everyone thinks it is a weird maple tree! Survived two light frosts already! It has no name, the seeds were traded to me two years ago on GW, and I've just kept saving as this castor is particularly nice. Let me know if you are interested, and want me to email you photos! girlgroupgirl |

| Sorry for the delay, people! I'm withdrawing my offer due to some extreme computer problems. It's extremely unstable, and could probably fail any time. DeathCheese and GirlGroupGirl, I can't contact you because you didn't give your home email. What I need is your mailing address. I'll just send the seeds, never mind a trade. Sue |
