Black Locust has spines about 1/2" long, in pairs along the branches, one on each side. The pods are flat and dry, the seeds about 1/4" across.

Honey Locust spines are can be 2-20" long, and are often branched or in clusters. Their pods are usually 6-8" long, fleshy inside, and the seeds are much larger.

Thanks to Belgian pup it looks like these seeds are Black Locust....not Honey Locust.
