I can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen a live opposum! I've seen them dead all the time, but never a live one. I would have jumped a mile!
Did you "encourage" them out? Not the cutest of creatures, are they!

I don't think I've ever seen two opossums in one nest, but maybe cold is a factor.
Did you let out a yelp when you opened the flew? You may want to let them stay where they are, that way if you ever have any trouble with them (bothering chickens?) you know right where to find them.
Erin points out their funky look, but I once bottle fed a litter of babies for Wildlife Rescue and the babies are so ugly that they're actually cute.
Good for you cleaning out the shed. I spent yesterday digging/cleaning a drainage ditch next to the house. Sometimes you just gotta do the yucky work. Feels good to get it done though.

You don't want possums where you have livestock, at least horses. They can cause a neuorological condition in horses.

My cousin had one for a pet as a kid. They are actually as clean as a cat, and that fur is real soft. That said, I'm glad my dogs keep our place possum free. I do not want them in my chickens.

Oh, goodness. I can't quite say they're "cute"... I'm sure they were a surprise!
My poor mother was very surprised when the "cat" that had been sleeping on her pillow all night turned out to be a possum in the light of day! She said she began petting it and something didn't seem right... Came in through the cat door. LOL Poor Mom.
