heat lamp

I bought a heat lamp bulb for the chicken house. It's one of those that just goes in a regular socket, like some people put in their bathrooms. It's 250 watts and red for nighttime. We are getting some REALLY cold nights this week. I'm going to put it in today. It'll be about 4-5 ft above them when they are on the roosts.

The heating pad is working great for keeping the waterer thawed but I think they'll need more this week. We are suppose to get betwwn -15 and -20 f every night. I hope that's as cold as it gets this year! I'll feel a lot better with the extra heat in their house.

All of our farm buildings, even a small shed, have great electrical wiring. The garage/shop has 220. It sure is handy! It was all there when we moved in!
