A Cheap Nest Box From Scraps

Note the small 1" block of wood holding the bottom of the 'Nest Box' out away from the back board (or wall). This causes the 'NB' to slope to the rear holding the nesting materials and eggs safely in.

Be sure that all screws (nails) are the right length so they do not stick out and cause injuries.

Note that the base holds the 'NB' from rolling around allowing this one to be used in cages or placed in an area that the brooding mother can have a safe place from other want-a-be mothers from disturbing her or new eggs from being laid in with her clutch.

Note the faint scrap of wood inside the 'NB' that is holding it to the back board or wall. It should be near the top for best support. Drilling pilot holes (slightly smaller than the screws thickness) will prevent the wood from splitting in two. Even when using nails in small pieces of wood P-holes prevents splitting from happening. A Silver Pheonix Hen wondering what's goin' on in the back ground.
