Duck with severe Arthritis

We have six ducks and our Pekin Jax who is only Four years old has severe arthritis. We have been giving her baby pain medication but at this point she has lost a lot of weight and is starting to use her wings as crutches. It is very painful to watch. I had heard that ducks can get a shot in the leg to help with the inflamation and that helps the pain. Anyone know about this? Our ducks are pets and out of all of them she is the sweetest and most loving, we would hate to have to put her down but if there isn't anything else we can do for her we will have to. I refuse to leave her suffering as she seems to be in so much pain. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer for sure, but I think I would opt for a more natural solution rather than the aspirin. An online search will bring up natural solutions.

I just read one a few weeks ago....I THINK it was soaking raisins in Gin or something like that, then eating the raisins for arthritis. Simple but many people swear by it. Something about the combination helped the arthritis. You might try that, better than aspirin IMO.

Anywho, I hope he gets better, if not I think I would put him down.

Thanks! I also found a website with the following info:

Take one part honey to two parts of lukewarm water and add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder, make a paste and massage it on the itching part of the body slowly. It is noticed that the pain recedes within a minute or two. Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder.

Is a duck w/ arthritis equivalent to a human arthritis patient?

How about talking with your vet?

I took her in once to the only bird specialist in the area and was charged $100 just for him to look at her plus $60 in meds. This was for a wound that she has obtained from another duck and at this time he noticed that she had minor arthritis and said that nothing could really be done for arthritis other than giving them some aspirin. Sorry, But aspiring doesn't seem to be doing anything for her.

It isn't cheap to take her in as it has to be done by a bird specialist but I would still do it if he could help her. At this point I am trying to find a natural remedy or some other thing that I can do to help her. I don't think that it is true that nothing can be done. If I have to try something that works on humans than that's what I will do.

She needs a shot and meds from the vet. My duck has the same thing. It is only going to get worse without proper anti imflammatories
