I would NOT put them out, even if you were home.

You need a predator proof pen. Predator proof means all sides, wire/solid material all (top, bottom, sides) sides, and wire less than 1" squares. The wire has to be strong, chicken wire is practically useless a raccoon will rip it apart. 1/2x1/2 hardwire is an excellent size, however not really that strong on a large enclosure.

If I were you I would keep them inside until the at least get some feathers to move around a bit better, then move them to a predator proof pen.

I would put the food and water wherever they can readily access it, 24/7, and make sure they know where it is. Also make sure the chicks as young ones cannot drown in the water..allow access for just their beak, (change it often) or you will find one or more drowned in their water.
