Help - Quail has (very) Swollen Eye !

Regards to all you farmlife folks,

I am a new member and I actively participate in seed exchanges and round robins. I did not even know about this forum until last night. I am so happy I found it. I stayed up until past midnight reading about your farms and your hopes and your dreams and your experiences. I really enjoyed getting to know some of you a little better...

This morning, my hubby went in to feed and clean the chicken and quails, he found one of the quails has a HUGE, balloon-like, swollen eye. (It was a little swollen the last few days but it actually seemed to be improving each day so we thought maybe she got in a fight and was injured). I have looked into Quail Bronchitis but her eye is really her only visible symptom. She has no trouble breathing nor does she have fluid discharges from her beak or eyes.

Can anybody help ?

Welcome, Chococat.

Do you think that one of the other quails might be picking on it? Or does it look infected? I don't have quail, but do have chickens. When one is hurt, I have to separate it or it will get picked on.

One of our hens was severely injured by a dog attack and has now recovered. We had to separate her for several months from the others.

We have a roo with a hurt foot that has had to be put into a separate kennel to keep the others from hurting him.

I think Seramas has quail, hopefully he will see your post and have more advice than I do to offer.

But, wanted to welcome you. Keep us posted on the little guy/gal.

Thank you Ramona.

I do not think that it is an injury. She has been isolated from the others since her eye first looked a little swollen. Since this morning, she has been brought into my home office - in a cage - so that I can keep an eye on her. Her eye socket is really like a water balloon waiting to burst. Very red also...

Hi chicocat . My quail had swollen eye . I gave her VALSYN NF Doxicilina / Ambroxol fist time swoll went down I stopped after 6 days. A week later her eye swollen came back and I gave to her again it not working now Swollen bigger and continue 3 weeks already and still give to her until now . Please I need help and tell where is doctor for quail ? Thanks . Best regards,
