As long as you are moving them to YOUR, personally-owned land, it might be OK.

Questions that need to be answered include: is there anyone living on the land; would there be some form of fencing; would there be shelter, both from the elements and from predators at night; would there be extra feed provided; what breeds of ducks are you considering?

If no-one lives there, if there is no fencing or shelter, then the ducks MAY have a happy life, but I think it would be a short one - predators would soon snap them up. If you want to feed the coyotes and feral dog-packs, then go ahead.

Some domestic breeds of ducks don't fly well, if at all, so would be easy prey. If there is only brown grass in the summer, what would they eat?

I think you need to provide more info, and maybe need to do some (more) reading on duck-keeping.

Just to clarify, my first sentence above was meant to be humorous - my apologies if it wasn't taken as such.

I'll take a stab at clarifying chickadee's delightful question.

She wants ducklings for a bit, but not for their whole lifetime, so she's looking for someone who is nicely set up to receive ducks once the thrill of ducklings has worn off.

I like this question because she's thinking about the whole process, not just getting irresistibly cute ducklings on a whim without considering their future. I imagine that many chicks and ducks, say, raised in nursery schools or given as Easter gifts, meet with grisly ends, and this kind of planning is the way to make it win/win/win.
