Female Rouen
My female Rouen and female Indian Runner began laying eggs in mid Feb. Sometime last month the female Runner was caught by a local coyote in the early morning comming out of the "duck house". Since then the female Rouen would not go near the house. I took the clutch of eggs (30+) and moved them to my poorly made incubator. I had 11 eggs that were viable, however my pre-schooler moved the heat lamp and I believe they all died at 16 days or so due to high temps? I found a few days after taking the clutch that the female Rouen made a nest behind my hydrangia bush in the corner of my flowerbed next to our house and deck. She has laid 17 eggs and is now sitting all day (and night?) only leaving for a half hour in the evening to eat and swim in the pond. Should I place a food and water dish next to her nest so she eats more often?
Sorry this was so long winded =)
