Don't use what is called 'poultry netting' or 'chicken wire'. It's laughably flimsy for peas, and anything that wants a peafowl dinner can tear right through it.

Peas are masters at climbing/flying, we had one in our neighborhood a few years back, every night he'd fly up to the top of one of the houses, then fly house-to-house over a few houses, then fly up higher to the top of a tall tree. It was astounding.

You may have to resign yourself to having roaming peas that happen to visit your yard for food, water and roosting...
