Wow thank goodness they will have a good life now. What were they doing with them? I would wonder if the eggs were safe to eat? Spoil them rotten....

jjaazzy, I guess they were studying feed efficiency and were going to be getting a new flock of chicks. They are finally laying again after the shock of moving out of their cages and are beginning to act like chickens - scratching for food and dusting themselves.

How are they doing trish

They were doing real well and in with our flock of 35 babies. The flock dynamics were interesting. :) It had become time to move them all out of the brooder pen and into the main coup this week so egg production from all has plummeted. :( Hopefully that won't last long. Plus we've had heat indexes around 100. Making sure everyone has plenty of water. It's crazy to see a 'guard' chicken in the doorway to the outside yard so the new guys can't get out. Have to go in there and break things up every once in a while.

Wow 100 Yikes, we were at 94 yesterday So I went and up graded to a new fan for my little ones. I had a little computer fan, up'd em to a 6" I hope it helps them. Sometimes I put a frozen water bottle in front of it. Anything to break a bit of the heat. I am sure your egg production will come back. Funny how they go on an off laying.
