Strawberries, nets, chipmunks, birds & bugs

Last year I had a 2 year strawberry bed. Beautiful strawberries except those little buggers ate a bit out of every one!

This year I have the netting, but keeping it down over my 1.5' high fence is an issue. Hubby made a nice fence, and put 1/2x1/2 wire up the sides & down under the ground.

Now we just need to cover the top, but I can't seem to keep the netting down along the ground. We placed it over the top of the fence overlapping. We're currently using rocks, not sure about those chipmunks, though.

Any ideas? What do you use & how do you keep it along the ground, and easy to lift up to harvest?

Hi brendasue, I use garden cover anchoring pins they are 6" X 1" X 6" you can get them in the lawn and garden section of walmart. I use them on the fence surrounding my garden and they work great - easy to put in and easy to pull out! They are not expensive and they come in plastic packaging and they also come in a plastic resealable plastic container with a green lid :)

Thanks Nelda1234, I'll pick some up. So far they seem to be doing better than last years already. Strawberries!
