My new rooster can fly really well and roosts high in a treetop outside the fenced area. He will fly to the top of the shed, then onto a high branch, and fly higher still to find a comfy spot. Then in the morning he paces in front of the gate for me to let him in. Should I clip his wings, if so, how? Or should I let the big guy take his chances?

If you decide to clip, clip only one wing, this is what keeps them off balance so they can't fly. My brother raised chickens years ago and clipped both wings the same...balanced, and they were still able to fly.
