If it was mine, I would probably just spray some Furozone spray on it. Or it comes in a salve as well. You can get medicated/antibiotic sprays at most feedstores. Good to keep on hand anyway.

Keep a close eye on it. You might have to wrap it with vet wrap to keep it clean. Soap and water, scrub, scrub, scrub.

But anyhow, make sure to keep a close eye on it. Put some antibiotic ointment on, then wrap it. I usually put a baby sock over the wrap and tape it on so there is no way the wound can be exposed. Leave this on for a couple days, and then take it off and let it air out a bit.

Goat's hooves can easily become infected from open wounds, so take good care of it!

So far I have flushed it with a non-stinging iodine rinse I picked up and then sprayed it with Blu-Kote. It is basically an anti-fungal, anti-bac coating spray. I have followed up a couple times to see if it needed reapplication of the Blu-Kote. I have also sprayed her with fly spray to keep the buggers away.

My neighbor is a vet and gets home from a trip today. I'm going to have him stop by and see what he says.

What's the vaccine status? Maybe tetanus antitoxin is appropriate. Tom
