It could be. How much light are you getting each day. I am still getting plenty up here in Northern Utah.

There could be other factors. How hot is it? Are they getting enough water? How is their nest box situation? Do they have sufficient? Has the litter in them been recently changed? I recently changed mine and suddenly everyone wanted to try it out and I had a lot more laying going on in there.

The biggest issue though is probably molting. How old are your girls? I have birds of three ages. This years' birds are still too young, last years' birds are molting, and birds from 2 years ago are the only ones laying. So, out of 50 or so birds, right now I'm only getting 5-7 eggs per day (plus what I am allowing them to go broody on).

Molting would be my first guess. Were they hatched last spring?

They just become laying age in July. I do make sure they have lots of water and layer pellets and fresh greens, etc.

If you have enough light, then so do we.

I haven't changed the nesting box litter in at least a month. I'll do that tonight and see if that helps. It has been very hot here for the past few days - 90F anyway, for some of you that's not very hot, but for us it is!

I am new to having chickens what do you mean when you are talking about layering pellots and fresh greens??? I have a little hen house for them to lay in and they do usually lay every day. It has been really hot here in California and I know that effects their laying.

layer pellets are chicken food - commercial chicken feed, also called layer ration. Fresh greens also for the chickens to eat.

Chicken food comes in different forms:
Mash, crumbles, pellets.
I find pellets offer the least waste so that is what I use.
