For those of you that have chickens,during the cold winter months do you close the chicken door every night and open it every morning?

Yes, and if the temperature is 20 or below (rare here in Texas) I turn on the heat lamp. Our full-bodied Australorps may not need the heat, but I rest easier knowing they have it on!

I always close the door so they are safe. I don't want a wild animal or a wandering cat or dog to attack them in the coop.
