Any suggestions on how to make one of the row tunnels to extend the season or protect from the cold? I have some ideas on how to make the hoops, but I"m not sure what type of material to use to cover them. any other ideas for "season extenders" is greatly appreciated!

Hi - I've had great success making row covers out of old sheer dacron curtains from Goodwill - the sheers that are used to cut down on the light coming into a window. I just sewed a bunch together and covered pvc pipe hoops with it. It's kept the bugs off and has lasted 15 years, still in fine condition.

By the way, if you use pvc you can get a slightly larger size than the pipes you'll be bending and drive 2 ft sections into the ground at the edges of the bed. It's very easy then to just slide the hoops in to these holders.

Have fun!

do you know how much extra temperature protection the sheer's provide or is it more for the bugs (and birds)?
