 o
wood chips

I have been a lurker for some time and have used many tips from this forum. I made a "white picket fence" around my vegetable garden from old pallets; made a compost bin and compost everything; use newspapers and grass clippings to keep weeds out the garden, just to mention a few.

My question is: We have a tree trimming service in town who will give the wood chips away to whomever wants them - can they harm some of the plants? You never know what trees have been trimmed that are in the pile. Should it "age" first before putting it down?

Thanks for your help.

RE: wood chips

I've used wood chips with no trouble at all..I did add a bit of extra nitrogen to the soil to aid in the decomposing. It is nice if you can compost them a bit first but I've used them both ways.
