Raised beds bordered by felled or cut logs actually have a nice effect to them. The logs not being straight is one of the interesting characteristics of such a bed imo.

Just find a way to keep in some soil material as your plants are growing, in case that matters to you.

But you can get free materials, like bricks or cinder blocks or landscape timbers, if you are patient. Check around your neighborhood, reconstruction lots, or even websites with free stuff.

Thx---i'll check the fallen wood and see if I can put pieces together. I'm not very handy as far as building anything.

Check out Craig's list under "free stuff". You might find something there you might be able to use.

Using logs makes a lovely, rustic frame for raised beds.
