Recycling TV Satellite dish

Has anyone recycled one of those old 10' or so TV dishes?

Thought it could make a great top/roof for a gazebo near or in the garden-if not the roof for an animal shed.

Welcome to your suggestions.

Interesting you should post this. I was out for a walk a few weeks ago and saw this done. I didn't get a close look but it appeared had sunk 4 pipes in the ground (assume a concrete base?)so the top was 8-10 feet high and attached the dish convex side up. It was a little strange looking but I think putting trellises on the uprights and maybe stretching netting across the top so vines could climb would make it look nice. Good luck.

On another forum, someone posted a pic of her satellite dish that is now a gazebo roof- one that I would like in my garden. She used five post supports. This person has four animal pens, the gazebo and a playhouse all with sat. roofs.

Mantorvillain, would like to walk that path and check out that roof....was wondering if they put a chain in the center hole to catch the rainwater in a bucket-or maybe a drain in the floor goes to the berry patch...

Imagine that in MN, the snow load could be challenging.
Looking for another 'dish.'

Go over to the Garden Junk forum and do a search on that site. You will find a lot of information and pics.

I made one into a gazebo using old trash picked porch supports. If you search for Satellite dish gazebo on the junk forum you will see lots of them. (and mine too!)

Good luck!

mmmmmm - how about a pool? My dish is more like 10 inches, so I'm thinking of stacking 2 or 3 ten-inchers to form a mini-waterfall. sound feasable? cora

Don't see why not! Search for fountains or water falls on the garden Junk forum and you will see plenty of pics to give you ideas, Post pics. We all want to see!

I made one out of a dish.
I want to make another one and put poultry wire around it for a bird cage. My sister brings her cockatoo sometimes when she comes to visit me and she loves it outside so I figured this would be neat for her to stay in and I also want to get me a bird one of these days.

Here is a link that might be useful: My gazebo

CJ - snow load and rain aren't problems in this application as they used the dish convex side up.

Problem is finding an old dish that no one wants. I've been looking and they are getting a little scarce around here.
