 o
hand basket from grocery store

My next door neighbor gave me one of those rectangluar plastic hand baskets from a grocery store. It has metal handles that are plastic covered. This is the greatest thing for carrying a day's harvest from the vegetable garden.

If I've dug root vegetables like beets or potatoes I can just set the basket on the lawn and run the water hose over everything to wash away soil before I take it into the kitchen.

It's great for prewashing greens and lettuce --stuff that sometimes has a lot of grit stuck to it. Its size is very convenient.

If you ever have the chance to get one of these baskets, take it!

I got one once from a store that was closing down, but I wouldn't advocate stealing one. LOL

Oops. I can see how I might have come across as advocating theft. I meant take the chance -the opportunity- to become the owner of such a basket if the opportunity should present itself. The entire chain of stores where mine originated is out of business.
