You can get free seeds from wintersown.org, but you have no choice in what they will send you. It is a long process. I just kept hitting next page. I really didn't want to play the game they had posted in order to get to the next page. Also The Garden Hoard gives away 6 packs of seeds for a double stamped envelope. The only problem I have with them is that the seeds offered haven't changed in the last three months. That's about when I found out about them. You can get free seeds from them once a month.

I've gotten seeds from Garden Hoard, and she sent much more than I requested. She's a member here, and was very generous with the trade we did. I bet if you sent another envelope, you'd get more than you expected. Just like the rest of us, she's outdoors more than online right now.

Can someone explain more what "Garden Hoard" is? I would love to get free seeds.

It's called The Garden Hoard. It is a website run by a seed company. They give away seeds that aren't as fresh as the new ones they just harvested. I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard she gives more than the 6 packs of seeds she offers. Let me know how you make out!

So there's a long wait for the seeds to arrive..I sent a request off today, so based on how long it took to get yours, it might be mid August that I will get mine. Has anybody sown the seeds you have got from The Garden Hoard to see if they germinated? Even if everybody sends SASE, I bet she has a lot of request and I think I read where people allow her to use some of their land to plant her flowers and that way they have less to mow..and take care of ..I think she said she has to collect the seeds from all of her locations. That's quite a job plus she volunteers at the High School's horticulture center.

pippi21, I never got around to asking her for seeds. Hopefully it won't take very long for you to get your seeds!

I haven't tried any of The Garden Hoard's seeds yet. Almost three weeks ago, I planted a few of my wintersown Shirley Poppy & Bachelor Button Mix seeds. No seedlings yet. I planted half my packet of the brown-eyed susan from them as well, and have one seedling.

So now, three weeks after planting wintersown's Shirley Poppy & Bachelor Button Mix seeds--- I have seedlings in both pots! They work! Once I move these into larger containers I'll start a few of The Garden Hoard's.
