We are always looking for goodies on the side of the road. Amazed at how many cool and useful things we have found! We are on our second cooler lid. We use them for bird baths with a few bricks in the middle. We found some old cafeteria trays cheap at a yard sale that we fill with water. The birds love to stand in the water and take baths and get a good drink of water. And so do the squirrels. We are having a drought, so it makes me happy that I can help the critters out. I even see insects come in for a drink.

That's pretty cool I do the same thing that's too funny good to know I'm not the only one that does this. I find a lot of things to use as containers. I even find clippings of many plants I either recently read about or have looked up before and try to propagate no luck yet I just recently started this lol

I've found lots of cool stuff on the side of the road. Plants, empty containers, a pair of little trellises, many chairs including a bentwood rocking chair that's been on my front porch for years, a kinda beat-up baby pool that I used for several things before it fell apart, countless bags of leaves (in OH,) pallets, firewood, rocks, a pile of turnips with a sign that said "free," and a $10 bill while stopped in traffic on my way to an Eagles concert! That was an awesome day, free tickets in the 23rd row and free beer money! Thanks for jogging a really cool memory. If I can't immediately think of what I'll do with an item, I try to cull my urges. I don't like a lot of "garden junk" in the yard and try to limit that stuff to natural and neutral colors, tan, green, brown, terra cotta, rust. One that always puzzles me is the shoe. A fairly common site as far as stuff on the side of the road goes. How does a person lose one shoe on the side of the road? It's usually a man's shoe. I keep little dishes of water out for the anoles & geckos. Terribly dry here, too!

I think the shoes are lost because they put them on the roof of the car or on the tail gate of a pickup. I found a pair of Tevas years ago that my hubby still wears. I found a nice baseball cap, part of a 5 dollar and part of a 10 dollar bill. I sent them in to the US mint and I got reimbursed for one of them because there was enough of it there. I can't remember the percentage needed for that. My husband found a 10 foot ladder. All kinds of nursry pots and trays. Clothing and laundry baskets. I could never figure out why people didn't go back looking for their laundry?!

We turned around today for a pair of sandals along the road. They were too ratty to bother with. My friend gave me a bunch of clay pots and saucers. Another friend gave us an aquarium and a bag of blue and green aquarium pebbles. I put the pebbles in the clay saucer and filled it will water for the beneficial insects. I sure hope they come!

I found many smaller objects when I rode my bicycle to work. You're always looking at the road just ahead, so lots of tools, pens, even a driver's license! Caps, and shoes. I thought the shoes were mostly children's, thrown out by them. I'd find small change and empty pots, like 6-inch ones sometimes with a sickly plant.

I have found some amazing things along the road. One time we were out walking on the dirt road and found 1/2 of a 5.00 bill and 1/2 of a 10.00 bill! I mailed them in and the US Treasury mailed me money for one of them. If there is 1/2 or more there, they will reimburse you. Old Eagle Eyes (as I fondly call my DH) has found countless things along the road. Bungee cords, a new 6 ft. ladder, lots of pots, tools, even a Bible in a leather case that he spent alot of time tracking down the owner. I found a pair of nice sandals that fit my husband! Road treasures we call them! So far I have found 2 twenties in gas stations. And a 10.00 dollar bill at the commissary. Mostly just pennies now. People are alot more careful with their money nowdays.

Im always on the look out for things on the road or parking lots as I walk into stores. I once found a pretty nice gold bracelet that had a clasp that would easily open! I took it to have it checked out thinking it was probably fake and it was indeed 14k gold! And once had a unbelievable strike of luckiness when i found 3- 50.00 bills neatly folded up. They were wet from rain having been there awhile in a parking lot!

Wow! That's alot of $$!! I had a friend find a hundred dollar bill in the bushes at a bank he was having a problem with. I always look at banks now! I met someone in the store that had just lost $80.00 after leaving the ATM machine. She thought she had put it in her back pocket, but she must have missed.
