Very Cheap Trees

It may be a good idea to check your local big garden store soon, as I was told today that they want to get rid of their trees fast (of course, they're bone dry and dying). I picked up a Pink Dogwood and 2 Redbud trees for $0.05 each, yes, five cents! I told the employee that all of their trees are in critical need of water, and his reply was they they want to move them out and they'll probably get dumped soon. I hope that means the 5 cent cart area, so at least the trees might have a chance. The 3 that I picked up are half dead but I think they will recover with some major pruning, water, and tlc. This gives new meaning to saving a tree.

Where did you go?? If you dont mind me asking. I have YET to see anything clearanced at the big stores. I keep reading about people finding $.05 deals, but where?? The best I've seen is a $1 table at a roadside stand at the end of summer.

I live near Baltimore, MD. Can anyone tell the me the best bargain places around here? I could really use a gardening buddy to swap plants and ideas with...

Dogwoods trees at 5 cents apiece is a great deal. This is my first year gardening and im looking forward to season end clearances...

BTW, I've noticed how horrid plants are looking in the big box stores. A little water will go a long way. I did however see a few cactus so completly overwatered they were rotting from the inside out.

Just got back from the grocery store where I picked up three perennials in gallon size pots for $.10 each!

You could join the Arbor Day Foundation and for a 10 dollar donation they give you 10 trees that are suited for your zone. You have the choice of evergreen, flowering and many others. I also got a free flowering bush. Not only was this a good deal you are helping out a great organization.
