How to get hold of logs

Hi folks,

I am planning on making a path around my garden from slices of logs .... i got logs of small diameters from one of my friends who had cut down a few big limbs of one of his trees ... but now i need logs of bigger diameters that i could slice up to make the actual stepping stones. Any idea how i can get em at dirt cheap prices or even at no cost? The logs do not have to be very long ... even a few feet would do

Call your county landfill or recycling center and find out what they do with the trees they remove from right-of-ways, etc.

We have a local recycling place that will let you go in with a chain saw and cut the trees up and take the wood home.

Our local dump in SC used to cut them up into 2 foot sections and let people come get them that needed them for firewood.

Also, call local tree companies and find out if they will dump off some pieces at your house. They usually will, because they have to pay by the pound to dump them.

Never hurts to ask.
