A birdhouse out of free stuff. . . (pic)

I found some free scrap wood at a nearby house construction site, and then I used a free plastic planter from a garage sale free box. I put a wooden divider inside the planter so now it's a two-home birdhouse. :) ~~Katy Skinner

This is a great idea--in these days of financial stress, we have to re-use and recycle when possible. Most birds establish a territory around their nests, and vigorously defend their "turf" against interlopers of the same species. Why this anti social behavior? To ensure that there will be an adequate food supply for their babies.

Bottom line, don't be surprised if only one "apartment" of your bird house is used at one time.
