Need ideas for a small arbor

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a question. I'd like to build an arbor (about 8'x3') to go over a small seating area in an herb garden. It has to be sturdy enough for a lot of snow, but I'm planning on using lightweight vines (clematis, honeysuckle, or annuals). Any ideas? I just want a trellis top that will provide some shade and the snow will fall through. I'm not a builder, but I have friends who can help. Frugal is the main thing :)

Some very clever person here in my town used two doors with the hardware left on and a leftover piece of lattice. The doors are the type that had windows in the top section. She replaced he glass with chicken wire to give her vines something to grab on to. The lattice was used for the top along with some scrap lumber to hold things in place. The entire thing was then painted one solid color to tie it all together.

We turned an old swing set frame into an arbor.
