Frugal Score!

Local mason was doing some work on a driveway and front entrance.
I stopped and asked if I could haul all the leftover concrete and stone away. He said 'Yes" I went back to pick it up with my husbands leather gloves, ( I am a 44 year old female with a 4 door car) he had it loaded in the truck and ready to drop in my driveway. I so excited to see he would drop it off!
I never expected the Belgian block and new brick that was in the pile to be part of the deal. But now I have about 40 belgian block and 20 or so new bricks.
What I will do with it I dont have a clue.
I merely wanted the old concrete to fill a giant eroding hole in my yard. What treasure I found!

RE: Frugal Score!

We removed an in-ground swimming pool last summer and used the concrete chunks to make a great looking raised bed. We flipped the concrete over to expose the rough rocks, then planted sedum in-between the concrete. My neighbors thought that it was flag stone. It looks great.

We had an overgrown oak tree taken down and the guy had one of those huge grinders that chops the wood and shoots it into the back of the truck. SO I asked him if he would let me have the wood chips and he was thrilled. He has to pay a $35 dumping fee for wood so he deducted that much off my bill and I got a years worth of free mulch. That was a good deal. Cheryl
