I need lots of bacopa. I'm wondering if anyone has been very successful in rooting bacopa, and if so, what you used for your rooting medium, and how big the segments were. I've rooted some of the easier things, but haven't been successful with bacopa. Thanks for any feedback!

I've rooted them, but I had more luck layering them. The cuttings I rooted were about 4 inches long, and I stuck them down about an inch in the soil. To layer them, I put pots all around the hanging basket (not hanging, of course) and pinned down the runners to the pots with wire picks (made myself out of old electrical wire). They rooted better while still attached to the plant. The problem I had with the cuttings was that if you watered too much, they rotted, too little, they shriveled. Hard to get the water right.

Thank you bruggirl. I'll give the layering a try. I haven't had much luck with the cuttings either, maybe the stems are just too thin. The layering sounds like a good winter project!

Hi! I have overwintered a bapcopa plant. The cuttings are about three inches long. I have stripped about inch of leaves and used a rooting hormone powder. Dip the bottem inch or less in hormone. I have them in one of those cheap covered trays you buy at Walmart. The cutting are just planted in six pack with cheap potting soil. I have bottom heat and grow lights. Some of the cutting have a little older stems than other. If the stems are really fresh growth. I think they will just take longer. Keep them warm and moist. I have gone to taking younger smaller cutting than when I first started because because in zone 3. I need to keep them in the house for quite awhile.. My first cutting are growing like weeds and need to repotted soon. No more babying them!! I wish I could help you!! Its been so easy!! I will have trays of bacopa. To bad Canada is so far away!! Good Luck!! Crazy.
