OLd lamp shades?

I was sure i posted this here today, can't find it, so maybe it got lost in cyberspace.
I hit the resale shops, good will St. Vincent's and anywhere I can think of to either buy, get free, or whatever, those wonderful wire lampshade frames. I like the ones with silk material on, lots of times they are pretty to boot. I remove the material, whether paper, material, or... and am left with a wire frame for a plant support, and lots cheaper than the plant supports in the stores.
I dicker when I can, check rummages, etc., and make use of those shades, as lots of times they are just thrown away cuz the material is torn, or something. Think about the pricing people, those shades are worth their weight.
I love to repurpose something, and this, along with chipped wood from the county or city, wherever you can get it,to use as mulch is such a good way to reuse. |

| what a good idea! If you needed a taller plant support, maybe you could drive bamboo skewers or some such into the ground inside the base of the lampshade frame. |

| Bargain or free lampshades are my favorite shade and wind shields for transplants in my gardens. The paper or fabric stay on as long as nature allows and THEN, the frame gets relagated to the support level...LOL. Also great for cuttings : evergreens, deciduous, even annuals. |
