Reuse perlite by floating?

Posted by aliceinvirginia (My Page) on

I know in heavy rainfalls that soak my container plants, the perlite migrates towards the top.

Has anyone tried dumping out their soil into a bucket of water, then skimming off the perlite from the top?

I know Perlite is one of the most expensive soil ingredients but it also very helpful for drainage.

I'm probably going to try that soon, but I've got soooo many projects around the house. Gardening and otherwise. The place is a mess too. Gardening time has replaced cleaning time.
