| I've been to 4 Lowes stores in 4 different towns. 2 of them had selected perennials, trees, shrubs and vines 50% off and one had everything 50% off. All had their bulbs 50% off and so did Walmart. I bought an Azalea 'Orchid Lights' (about 3 ft tall), Ilex hellerii, a dwarf Buford holly, a Potentilla 'Goldfinger'(these three are in gallon pots) and a dwarf rhododendron. This was from the store that had everything on sale. They had a lot of good stuff but I didn't have any more money:-( ..Fruit trees, kiwis, grapes, blueberries, a good variety of decidious & evergreen shrubs. Arrgh! I just remembered they had Erica and I wanted to get a couple! Waah!!!! The moral of the story--check your local Lowes store. |

| Momcat what did you get?!!! I went back to the one Lowes that had the good stuff and got $55 more:-) I did get two Ericas plus 2 more 3 gallon azaleas: another 'Orchid Lights' and 'Mt Saint Helens'; another dwarf burford holly, 2 different Cotoneasters (a 3 gal pot and a 1 gal pot), a seedless Concord grape, an Encore azalea, Arborvitae 'Rheingold'. I know there is more but I can't remember just now. |
I bought a Bunya Bunya. Spiny lil monster

| I really regret putting it in the passenger seat and then taking that turn. I really do. It was half price though! I was hoping to get a Leptospermum they had, but somebody snatched it before I got there. |

I had to look up bunya bunya on Google:-)I'd never heard of it. Too bad about the Leptospermum. I keep thinking of plants I "should" have bought. LOL I couldn't get everything of course but....... |

| Kathy, LOL! "My" Lowes didn't have hostas:-( |

None of the Lowe's around here put their hostas on sale,:(. But I did get a nice Autumn Joy sedum, 2 artemesia Silver Mounds, and a kind of daisy, each for $1! It's probably a good thing they didn't have any more kinds of plants, or I would have really hated not being able to buy them. I only had a few dollars I could spend. |

| Alex, good deal! Last fall, the local Lowes had hostas on sale but I could only afford 1 "Halcyon". I was able to divide it into two, both big enough to bloom this summer. |

| Ya'll are making me want to go shopping! But I have too much to plant and too many beds to redo and not enough time to get it all done! So I keep thinking of friends who might like something new...And besides, I've never seen those prices at my local stores. Maybe next year! |

| dutchgirl, LOL! I also have many beds to re-do and not enough time but......! Actually we are building a house on a lot where we had a mobile home many years ago so I have old beds in need of re-doing but I get to landscape around the house now so I have been buying up shrubs and perennials at sales and planting it in a nursery bed. Also growing plants from seeds and cuttings. That bed got full so we started another one last summer. It is now full:-) We've been working on this house 3 years now and I'm HOPING that next spring, I can really start planting things around the house. |

| Add me to the club list--I too have much to do and no real NEED for more plants, but since when has that stopped me? lol And at $1 for a large perennial, they jumped into my cart, I'll swear it. lol Vegangirl, it sounds like you are doing what my h and I will be doing in a few years after I get out of school- building a house. We want to move away from the city and nosy neighbors and small yards and have some ROOM to breathe and have children and let our animals roam (with fences, though). I have way too many plants crammed into our small front yard, since the dogs go outside to play in the backyard and would play w/ my plants. All the properties we've seen so far w/ houses have been more than we could afford so we have talked about building a barn(or wood workshop) and living in it while building a house. Both of us are handy, but my arthritis in my spine is giving me fits this week, just from building some new beds and planting bulbs in them. Too many hours spent bending over, I guess, but who knew that arthritis could be such a factor at 33? Okay, I am rambling, but it's a topic that is on my mind a lot and I was up until 5 am working on a paper. I'll blame it on lack of sleep. |

| Alex, Best of luck! Building a house is a lot of work but I have been told that people actually finish them and move into them LOL! I am about halfway through with a degree in nutrition but I had to stop (temporarily) because of lack of money and too much work on the house. I'm hoping to get back into it soon. I have empathy for you lack of sleep! |

| After reading these posts, I HAD to check out the Lowes and Walmart in my area. I got this URGE and I just couldn't stop myself. Well, I had a good laugh at myself because they have already cleared all of the bulbs and plants to make way for....you got it.....the Christmas stuff. Folks, I'm done planting for the year! I'm just going to curl up with some good gardening books in front of the fire this winter:) |

The guy at Lowes said make me an offer-- I got two one gallon size hostas for $0.25 a piece(elegans and gold edger). 9 pack pansies for a quarter (I got 3 of them) & wooly thyme for ten cents apiece (going to cover my new stepping stones quickly now)---- spent about $6 |
