kelp meal / spirulina different?

Hi,

I was looking into kelp/seaweed fertilizers for plants and wondered. How much of a difference is there between them and spirulina powder or dried seaweed for eating? I am just starting and am trying to use what i have for now until i get better at dealing with plants. I have spirulina powder and dehydrated seaweed for miso soup. can i put either of those on my plants (with any benefit)?

The stuff for eating is more expensive! At least that's what I've noticed. Save the edible stuff for miso soup and spirulina smoothies!!

If you are near the ocean you could compost seaweed, just make sure its well rinsed first because obviously its very salty....
