How we're building a greenhouse out of recycled materials

Well, it's slow but it's coming along. I took some pictures of the outside of both the treehouse/greenhouse and office, and some pics of the garden from the top of the treehouse today. The first ones are of the outside.

These are of the garden from the top floor:

This area was pretty solidly planted with Hedychium coronarium, Alstroemeria psittacina and Mahonia fortunii. It took me 3 days to clear the plantings out.

I'll post more pics as we move along if anyone's interested.

Wow, what a project! Thanks so much for sharing photos, and yes, I want to see them. Your landscape looks so inviting; I'd not want to be anywhere else except the garden if I were there.

That's a wonderful spot, Nigella. Incredibly lush growth! Not like our Navajo Reservation, at all. In this area, we have yards between plants, not yards full of plants.

Nigella,

That is great! The look I am always trying to achieve! I keep threatening my DH that I am removing ALL grass. I hate it! I want the yard to be one big flower garden. He says that we can take out the grass when the kids are grown, they need a place to run! He did finish my greenhouse this summer. I wish that my digital camera was working and I would go take some photos to post!

Thanks for the photos, keep us updated.

Sorry ya'll! I forgot all about this post. I have a few pictures of how it came out for anyone who wants to see them, I'll start a new post.

Girlsaylor, the gift you sent has many babies coming along, I'll be able to pass the good deed along this spring, I think. Yes, I spend a lot of time out there!

Bluebloom, I'm so glad you like it! I'm very pleased with the structure over all but there are changes I'm working on.

Dryndusty, I'm pretty sure you can grow a lot of things there that are impossible to consider here. If it can't stand to be wet, warm and humid it's gonna croak pdq here. There are some things I'd love to have but don't want to give the plant a death sentence.

Necia, DH says that parks are for running, lol, he was an environmental scientist for many years and hates mowing so I had a head start, lol.

Wow! All that green in winter, I am jealous!

I am planning a greenhouse this spring, I spent last summer and fall collecting all the windows and doors I could get my hands on! DH has finally decided to "let" me build one just to get all my "junk" out of "his" shed...

We've been cleaning up our property, rearranging our 'junk'. We have a collection of windows and doors, also a stainless steel restaurant sink that's about 8 1/2 ft. long by 28 inches wide that we are going to use. We've decided, I think, to attach this greenhouse/potting shed to a shed that we have. I can hardly wait to get it done. We sketched out the windows with sizes then sketched out a drawing of back, side and front views. Something to look forward to that's for sure. I need to take pictures before, as we go along and after, like Nigella is doing.
