Those SHOULD show, snapfish has never let me down before! Thanks for letting me know, Nigella! I'm going to plant all of those cool blues under some orange California poppies! Should be vibrant... Monique |

Abbidoo, we can grow bulbs, just not most of the ones they show in national catalogues. You can grow more tender bulbs that northern gardners find difficult, gladiolus, crinums, hippeastrum, eucomis, lycoris.....there is a very long list of bulbs that do well in more tropical conditions, but it's hard not to want some of those fine traditional garden subjects, isn't it? One very small bulb that will do well for you in the ground is Achemines, the magic flower. Most folks have to grow it as a house plant. Take a look at Yucca Do, Plant Delights and Stokes Tropicals online catalogs and at some of the older neighborhoods in your town for more ideas for great "southern bulbs". Have fun!

Right on Monique!! I got some a few weeks ago too!!! They were ranunculus bulbs. I saw them selling a one gallon plant $4 at Home Depot. OH and hey have daffodils too. That place gets better and better with each shipment! Cat

Thank you for the tip. I have gone bulb crazy. I stopped in the dollar store and they were in but not up yet. Will be up on Friday. I will be there. Thanks!!!

Last year I bought some gladiolus at the dollar store. What the heck, said I, couldn't hurt--they were like, a bag of several for a dollar. I think I bought 3 bags. Omigod they made the most gorgeous dark red glads (like midnight red --they looked almost "black"), stopped the neighbors dead in their tracks. The only bad thing was when they started falling over from heaviness. This year I will stake! I don't go to the dollar store much anymore, or Odd Lots or places like that. I usually find even the low prices too high for stuff that will fall apart or be faulty right away. But on this particular day I was killing time while my son was taking a guitar lesson. I learned a lesson that day too. Rose

The 99 cents only store I go to just put theirs out today. I picked up Star Gazer lillies, sparaxis, and acidantheria. They also have lots of gorgeous glads, freesias, a few different Oriental lillies and more. The star gazer lillies are large bulbs with good looking (not dried out!) roots. Get 'em quick while there's a good selection!

I picked up acidanthera last year from DGS and all twelve bulbs bloomed...beautifully and for quite a while. I'd never seen them before then, but they looked like a cross between a lily and gladioli. I'll have to look for ones like you got, they're awfully pretty. Carol
