I just started hanging out in here a little bit and was wondering is anyone has thought about useing those little $1 pop bottles that you get at gas stations or in pop machines.

I have been told by two or three different people that they make great starters for seeds if you cute the top off. I have alot more of these around then I do milk jugs. It's just me and my fience and we don't drink much pop or milk but my parents drink alot of diet coke!

I was wondering if anyone had used these and would recomend or not recomend them

Hi,

I believe if you check the 'Winter Sowing' forum you will see that there are a few people who do use these bottles. They act like mini-greenhouses for seed sprouting. This is indeed a frugal idea.

Sadly, I don't think this forum gets as much action as it should, but that may change as our economy changes.

Hope you will post more money-saving ideas.

Laura

I have used all sizes of the soda bottles. I usually cut them in half and cover pots that I am starting new seeds or cuttings in to creat a mini greenhouse.
