free hangers for pots

I needed to get some of my small tropical hibiscus plants up off a shelf in my greenhouse by hanging them. They're not in hanging pots and I didn't want to repot them into hanging pots.
So! What's cheap girl to do???!
I thought and thought....wire hangers!
Just opened up the portion the clothing actually hangs on, forming it into a circle. Placed it around the pot, pulling tight and twisted several times. Used 2 per pot, with the actual hanger portions on either side to hang over the rod.
Free; got rid of wire hangers (Joan Crawford would have been SO proud!); and I didn't have to do any cutting of the wire!
Check it out in the Garden folder of my Webshot page.

Well, thank you! I just caught up with your post. I have a number of hanging baskets that the "hangers" broke on, was planning to try some macrame hangers, but this is soo mucher cheaper, faster and easier!!!! thank you, you've just extended the lives of my hanging baskets a few more years! - Ellen

Hi Barb, I saw your post and had to chuckle, I recently worked out a way to hang some smaller plants on a vertical post using cheap plastic cup holders. Click the link below for a picture.

Newpro Containers sells cable hangers, chain hangers, and hanging pots. Just do a search on MSN.com or Yahoo.com for plant containers. Look for Vista or Newpro Containers
