| Our town charges $2 apiece for our garbage bags. We don't use many now but I've been throwing away some stuff I'd rather recycle. So how would I get rid of:
Styrofoam: Meat trays, packing peanuts, inserts from boxes Plastic grocery bags: We try to use reusable but sometimes forget to take them Umm, I'm sure theres more but I can't think right now... That ought to get us started, what else can't you figure out how to recycle? |

| You can use all of your styrofoam in your attic as additional insulation. Just start in a spot and keep going. Be sure the meat trays are cleaned. Also, you could use the peanuts and inserts for container gardening as lightweight filler in the bottom of pots for drainage. Grocery bags . . . . I use them as garbage bags for small trash cans. I'm thinking . . . . |

| Some companies will give you free shipping on your next order if you return their packing peanuts! (I think Bluestone Perennials has that system.) I use my packing peanuts to allow air into cheap potting soil that tends to pack and get hard. Works like a charm! :) |

| Some stores have bins set up for recycling plastic grocery bags. A large supermarket chain does that here, as well as WalMart, and even a small local dry-cleaner. Also, often thrift stores - especially church-connected ones - will gladly re-use your clean plastic bags. Even our local library re-uses them for patrons with lots of books. Dee |
