| How did I fall so far behind in ordering this year? I planted several hundred trees last year, and this year need to get my orchard started. While I want to get some peach trees and others, my focus this year is Apple trees. I want a variety, but am looking for reasonable cost and great quality for starters. It would be great to end up ordering from only two places. Looking for opinions on best go to orchard mail order companies? |

| Check Van Well, they maintain a pretty current inventory list on-line. Not many heirlooms though. |

| The best deal I have found in apples is White Oak Nursery. It is a small Amish nursery with high quality trees and a good mix of heirloom and modern varieties. $15 for a top quality tree. You need to write for a catalog, and mail in the order via their form with a check. 2507 White Oak Rd. Strasburg, PA 17579-9733. If you are ordering lots of trees the wholesale places like Van Well might be able to give you a better overall price. Scot |

| Appleseed, they have more or less standard shipping charges. $150 of trees is $33 shipping for me for example. It depends on your location, its more if you are further away. Scott |

| I requested a catalog from Schlabach on Mamuang's advice but so far haven't received it. They had a phone number you could call and leave a message to request it. They are Amish also, but I guess had a phone located outside their property. Many Amish near here will have phones mounted on the telephone pole outside their property. One guy had his inside an old Cadillac (not running) at the edge of his property. Does White Oak have such a phone number? White Oak is 186 miles from me. |

| Scott, do you know what types of rootstock choices they have and do they carry crabapples? I'm looking for a Chestnut Crab, Kerr and Centennial on something dwarfing, although the Centennial could be semi since it is a smaller tree. Thanks. |
