Propagating blackberries from root cuttings?

Thanks to a forum friend I recently received a bag of Tupi root cuttings. They are 4-6 inches long and pencil size. I have never grown the blackberries from root pieces, any tips, tricks? In pots at first or right in the row? Does the orientation of the root matter?

They should be put in a baggy with damp Peat moss,inside a refrigerator for about three weeks at about 40F.Yes,they can be planted wherever and laid horizontally,about one inch deep. Brady

Thanks Brady. Btw if you still need the fig cuttings email me, just cut them on Monday.
