The lack of leaves is normal. Poms drop all their leaves and look like a big twiggy mess during winter in Modesto. Did you order from trees of antiquity? I didn't think Dave Wilson shipped directly. I've been to 5 nursery's buying up this years plantings.

Thanks Fireball! I was under the impression that poms are evergreens..lots to learn for me :D.
I ordered them from peaceful valley and one multi grafted pluot and cherry are also expected soon.

Pomegranates definitely loose their leaves in the winter, even in a relatively warm climate like mine here in Northern California. No worries!

On the multi grafts, be sure to go out towards the end of spring and several times through summer, and cut back the really fast growing varieties to match the slower ones. You may only snip the tip off the slowest variety once to encourage branching but may cut back the vigorous varieties 6 inches four different times or else they will take all of the nutrients and the slow variety will get shaded out and die. I have a 3 in 1 pluot that has spent its first year in the ground and that is what I am learning to do. The slowest variety has grown very little as I didn't get on top of the pruning quickly enough.
