In the south, peach is very popular. For something new, jujube was introduced to Oklahoma many years ago and I believe it was successful.....

I'd expect Jujubes and persimmons to do well with no care. Certain figs like Celeste if sheltered from the north wind might do ok. Peaches and plums should grow well if you're willing to spray a lot. Apples will grow well, you'd probably want to select CAR{{gwi:807}} resistant varieties, some varieties need spraying more than others. I wouldn't think cherries would do well for you. Keiffer pears would do great, I love keiffers, some people hate them. Oriental pears like Hosui might do ok but you'll need 2 different types for pollination.
