Potted pear tree?

I feel like this must have been discussed on here before but my search isn't turning up anything. I purchased a bartlett pear tree last year and have yet to transplant it. I'm considering a 20 inch wide by about 18 inch high terracotta pot--not huge but not tiny either. Right now, the tree is about 6 feet tall.

Would this be a good setup for our tree? Any soil suggestions? I've seen lots of discussion related to potted citrus, but very little on pears. Help please!

C...that container would only be a very temporary home...unless you have a dwarfing rootstock. However, pears are not generally thought of as aggressive growers (like peach, etc)....thus, they are a long-lived tree. Research the necessary chill requirements for that variety, also. goodluck

I don't need a ton of fruit--I got the Bartlett mostly to pollinate an Anjou that's in the ground now. The tree should be a semi dwarf. Do you think the pot will be too small even if I keep it around 7 feet?
