Do bug zappers help with moths?

Will they reduce the cm and ofm's in my yard?

Or perhaps they'd be a magnet for moths a mile away?

I tried using a bug zapper between my mature apple and pear trees last year. It did not seem to make much of a dent. Your best bet is cover the fruit with plastic bags if you want worm free no spray fruit.

Thanks Orchardace. I guessed if it was that easy everyone would do it, but wanted to check.

At one time, I read some research which indicated, unless you have a livestock operation (with lots of flies) bug zappers kill a lot of beneficials and very few orchard insect pests.

Longtime poster Don Yellman aka Jellyman used to use a bug zapper. My recollection is when he stopped using it he noticed little difference.

what if the bug zapper is used with the light removed, and some sort of targeted insect lure? Is this what Don Yellman did?

I was thinking the same thing- maybe a big red ball, like the tanglefoot traps use?
