Do you have a picture of the fruit?

Where did you buy the tree?

When do they ripen relative to specific other apples?

What color are they, what shape are they? What color is the flesh?
What texture is the flesh? When sliced do they brown quickly?

If you bought it as bare root on line, the source may have a record of your purchase. Starks and ACN did for me.

If all else fails take a picture next fall and post it here, someone should be able to ID it.

Thanks all! I got the tree from a local garden center, the owner is a good friend of mine, but he cannot remember which variety I bought and he's not so hot at keeping records.

The fruit ripens relatively late season, I was out picking the apples in early to perhaps mid October. The color shape and flesh color can be seen in the photos below. The flesh is crisp (even after months in storage) and sweet/tart. It's a great eating apple and holds up really well when cooked, and it does not brown quickly once sliced. It does tend to darken more around the core, but even after 30 minutes the flesh looks nice and fresh (unlike the Galas I have that darken quite quickly).

I took these pics this morning...I still have close to 100 lbs of apples is storage from this one SMALL tree.

Do you remember if you bought a common variety, one with fruit available from grocery stores?

From what you describe I'd guess Fuji but for calling it sweet/tart. I'd describe Fuji as sweet.

Well, that and the bottom looks strange. I don't see a calyx in the picture, are both pieces from the same apple? There is no recess on the calyx end either. It is just round on the bottom. Looks like it wouldn't be able to stand up.
